We believe in the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. However, the idea of someone who is a convicted felon or mentally unbalanced having access to weapons is disturbing. Therefore, we believe a database should be created of individuals who have been involuntarily incarcerated or institutionalized. This database should be checked before allowing anyone to purchase a weapon. A seven day waiting period for a background check is an acceptable measure for the sale of firearms. These measures will help ensure that violent acts are not committed out of rage. Public institutions should install metal detectors to screen for weapons upon entry. Otherwise, we don?t want to impinge on people?s rights to bear arms.
